Clutch Replacement in Shoreham-by-Sea

Full clutch replacement, flywheel inspection, and clutch repairs for all makes and models. 12-month warranty on parts and labour.

Clutch replacement done right

A worn clutch makes your car harder to drive, less fuel-efficient, and can leave you stranded if it fails completely. Catching the early signs — slipping, juddering, or a heavy pedal — means a straightforward repair rather than an emergency breakdown.

At A Star Garage, we replace clutch kits, dual-mass flywheels, slave cylinders, and release bearings for all makes and models. We always fit complete kits to avoid repeat work, and we'll inspect the flywheel while we're in there.

Clutch FAQs

Common signs include the clutch slipping (engine revs rise but the car doesn't accelerate), a heavy or spongy clutch pedal, difficulty changing gear, a burning smell when driving, and unusual noises when pressing or releasing the clutch pedal. If you notice any of these, get it checked before the problem gets worse.

A clutch replacement typically takes between half a day and a full day depending on the vehicle. Front-wheel drive cars with transverse engines tend to be more involved. We'll give you a time estimate when you book so you can plan your day.

In most cases, we recommend replacing the full clutch kit (friction plate, pressure plate, and release bearing) rather than repairing individual components. The labour to access the clutch is the main cost, so fitting a complete kit avoids having to go back in if another part fails shortly after.

If your vehicle has a dual-mass flywheel (DMF), we'll inspect it during the clutch replacement. Worn or damaged dual-mass flywheels are a common cause of clutch judder and noise, and replacing them at the same time is often recommended to avoid repeat labour costs. We'll always discuss this with you before doing the work.

We offer a 12-month warranty on all clutch parts and labour, so you can drive with confidence knowing the work is covered.
